Fundamentally, forestry, water and energy resources are indispensable to production activities for economic development, as they are sources or raw materials for the production of energy and other goods.
As far as water resources are concerned, they can be used to produce energy, which means mastering the legal, economic and financial constraints affecting the production, transport and distribution of this energy. Today's conservation objectives, against a backdrop of climate change, also call for adaptations in energy production, and hence a migration towards renewable or clean energies. Forest conservation issues, or at least compensated forest exploitation, are also topical these days.
In fine, States must meet the relevant sustainable development objectives to ensure access to energy, energy security and energy efficiency, in order to initiate a sustainable energy transition that strikes a balance between the developed and underdeveloped segments of the population.
